COVID Update 21 October 2020

We have had four further positive cases confirmed since my last letter sent on 8 October. Two of these were already self isolating due to other members of their family testing positive and so no other students were impacted. We currently have a total of five live cases (where the positive case or close contacts are currently isolating) across our school. We have been in contact with Public Health England and have followed all their advice in relation to these cases.

Separate Science GCSE Entry

Students have missed at least 14 weeks of face to face teaching throughout Year 10 and will in all likelihood miss some additional time throughout Year 11 due to the ongoing restrictions around Covid-19. Furthermore, although the start date for GCSE exams have been moved back by three weeks there has been no reduction in subject content that students will have to study. For these reasons we firmly believe studying Combined Science is the appropriate option for our students.

However, based on the feedback we have received we have considered how we might be able to support students who are still keen to take exams in three Separate Sciences.
