Sixth Form student Rory Leonard receently completed in a ISF Cross Country Championships. Here he tells us of his expeirence.
“From the 2 – 7 April I went to Paris to attend the ISF world cross country championships. I had been selected to race for England u19 cross country squad, based on my general form this season including winning the British championships.
The race contained 37 countries in teams of six with countries including Morocco and Algeria. Individually I finished 9th and was the third England counter home, however I was the first 2001 born finisher in the race as it was in an u19 category. I was also third European. England as a team took a silver medal losing out to Algeria by only 2 points.
It was my first international experience and was a great learning curve. I am currently being considered for the European youth track championships in Hungary for 1500m or 3000m. I am happy that my cross country form is being converted into good track season shape”.
