A Level Results Success

Well done to all students and staff, we are extremely proud of you all.A Level Results 2017

Once again King Edward’s students have achieved outstanding A Level results, with thirty three students achieving all A* and A grades.

The percentage achieving A* – A grades was 26.4% and achieving A* – B grades was 52.6%.

The average points per entry was our highest ever at 33.3, which shows that across all subjects and grades students performed extremely well.

This year is the first of new more challenging A Level courses, many of which do not take into account AS grades, but rather assess all content at the end of the second year.  Teaching staff have been working incredibly hard preparing new resources and lessons to support our students for these new linear courses. Our fantastic students have taken up the challenge and have been rewarded with outstanding results.A Level Results 2017

The vast majority of our Year 13 students will now progress on to university, but we are seeing an increasing number choose alternative options such as Higher Level Apprenticeships, School Leavers Programmes in Accountancy with RSM, gap years and even studying at Maastricht University in the Netherlands.A Level Results 2017A Level Results 2017

National Performance Tables 2016

Level Results 2016Once again the National Performance Tables show that King Edward’s remains very strong at both GCSE and A Level.

At GCSE King Edward’s were amongst the top performing schools in the North East region for the key attainment measures of 5A*-C and A*-C for English and Maths combined.

At A Level we had another extremely successful year for Value Added, which measures the progress each student makes from their GCSE starting point to their A Level results. Our figure of 0.26 places us in the top 10 for all schools in the North East region, including independent schools.

Very well done to all staff and students for their hard work and dedication.
