Former Student in Children in Need Challenge

p0356f6dFormer KEVI and Chantry student Lucy Wox will be taking part in this years Rickshaw Challenge.

Lucy, 16, has cerebral palsy, deafness and sight problems but her buoyant personality and can do attitude have meant that this hasn’t held her back.

Doctors had originally thought she may never be able to walk or talk, but Lucy proved them wrong. For the last four years, she has attended the Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project (CVYP), a BBC Children in Need funded group that works with young people with disabilities. With support from the project, Lucy recently passed her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.

To help raise money for Children in Need young riders are biking across the country. This year’s team will cover a 470-mile journey from Land’s End to the East End to help fundraise for BBC Children in Need.

Lucy CiNShow Your Support

On Friday the 13th of November we will be having a non-uniform with all contributions being donated to Children in Need.

Supporting Children in Need is especially important for KEVI this year as a previous student Lucy Wox is taking part in the Rickshaw Challenge!

As well as a non-uniform day, we plan to also have a ‘spinathon’ and cake sale on Friday the 13th, in order to raise a great amount of money for the charity. The aim of Children in Need is to ensure every child in the UK can have a safe, happy and secure childhood where all can achieve their potential. The non-uniform day will be a £1 donation.

To support the challenge, you can donate either £5 or £10 by text. To donate £5 text the word TEAM to 70705 or to donate £10 text TEAM to 70710. Texts will cost your donation plus the standard network message charge. All of your donation will go to BBC Children in Need. You must be 16 or over and please ask for the bill payer’s permission. Here’s all the info and full terms and conditions.

Applications for Year 9 2016

We would like to take this opportunity to invite parents and carers of all children in Year 8 to submit their application for The King Edward VI School, Morpeth before the deadline of 31 October.

Please follow this link to view our presentation to Year 8 parents.

We also welcome applications from parents and carers of children who are not currently in our feeder schools. Our projected numbers indicate that there will be spaces available from outside of the feeder schools so please indicate our school as preference if it is your first choice. If you have any queries regarding the application process, please contact County Hall and ask for the School Admissions team.

Summer Volunteering

Go Run for Fun LogoWell done to Year 11 student Damian Adamson who spent a day of his Summer Holiday volunteering at the GO Run For Fun event at Chantry Middle School.

We received a lovely email from the event organisers, Nova International, to say thank you for his hard work on the day.

Damian marshalled the site and course, helped with registration and even dressed up as their mascot!

Brittany Pouresmaeilieh, Special Projects Assistant at Nova International said: “Damian was a credit to your school and on behalf of the whole GO Run For Fun team at Nova International we would like to thank him.”
