Over the summer holidays, 32 students, 4 staff and 2 expedition leaders embarked on a month long adventure to Madagascar with World Challenge.
Students had spent the previous 2 years hosting a whole range of events to fund their once in a lifetime expedition.
The teams departed from Newcastle to make the 28 hour journey to the Madagascan Capital, Antananarivo. As they made their way down the country the challengers
experienced the unique culture and wildlife that Madagascar has famously become known for.
Congratulations to Fiona and Hamish Turnbull for their achievements in cycling. Fiona (11A) has been selected for the North East cycling team to take part in the Sainsbury’s School Games in Manchester and has also been selected to be part of the North East Teams for both Mountain Biking and Road Cycling Inter Regional Competitions. All while her brother, Hamish Turnbull (Year 12) earned two gold medals at the Sainsbury’s School Games at the weekend, but he says he wont stop there and has his sights set on the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Well done to Year 11 student Damian Adamson who spent a day of his Summer Holiday volunteering at the GO Run For Fun event at Chantry Middle School.
We received a lovely email from the event organisers, Nova International, to say thank you for his hard work on the day.
Damian marshalled the site and course, helped with registration and even dressed up as their mascot!
Brittany Pouresmaeilieh, Special Projects Assistant at Nova International said: “Damian was a credit to your school and on behalf of the whole GO Run For Fun team at Nova International we would like to thank him.”
