Curriculum time

All students in Years 9 – 11 have 2 hours of PE included in their curriculum.

Key Stage 3

Students cover a range of activities.

Each unit of work is 6 – 8 lessons.

Boys activities:

  • Athletics
  • Cricket
  • Tennis
  • Softball
Girls activities:

  • Hockey
  • Netball
  • Gymnastics
  • Dance
  • Fitness

Key Stage 4

The curriculum is broadened to cover some minority sports.

Each unit of work is 6 – 10 lessons.

Boys activities, as above plus:

  • Hockey
  • Trampolining
  • Badminton
  • Table tennis
  • Volleyball
Girls activities, as above plus:

  • Rugby
  • Football
  • Trampolining
  • Badminton
  • Volleyball
  • Aerobics
  • Basketball

All Year 11 students are also given the option to follow the Sports Leadership 1 Award.

House System

There is a House System within the school and all students are encouraged to participate in the House matches once a term.

These matches are part of the Major Team Games.

We also have an annual Sports Day in July.

Extra-curricular

We offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities and enter both local and national competitions for students in Years 9 – 13.

We also take an active role in the Northumberland Schools Games Association and have recently achieved the Sainsburys School Games – Bronze Mark.

  • Table tennis
  • Volleyball
