GCSE Results 2018

King Edward’s goes from strength to strength with an incredibly strong set of GCSE results.

Mark Simpson, Head of School, said, “I would like to congratulate all Year 11 students and staff for a fantastic set of GCSE results. Our overall attainment figure of 54.6 is significantly higher than our fantastic 2017 result. This will mean that our key figure for Progress 8 will also be significantly higher. It is a testament to our Year 11’s brilliantly positive attitudes, determination and hard work that we have achieved these outstanding results.

Clare Savage, Headteacher from September, stated, “I am so pleased that the school continues to go from strength to strength. This is a brilliant achievement especially given that this year sees new GCSE courses for nearly all subject and a new grading system and I would like to thank staff on behalf of students for all the support they have given students.”

Bryan Stewart, Deputy Headteacher, said “This was a fantastic year group with a really positive work ethic. They fully deserve these outstanding results and I wish them the very best for the next step in their educational journey.”

GCSEs have now changed from grades to levels ranging from 1 to 9. A level 4 is equivalent to the old C grade. At King Edward’s, the percentage of students achieving 5 or more level 4+ equivalents including English and Maths is 80.5%. (This is the same measure for the old 5+ A*-C including English and Maths)

GCSE Success

IMG_9606Congratulations to the class of 2015 for a superb set of GCSE results.

The students worked extremely hard to achieve results well above the national averages across the whole curriculum.

This year an amazing 20% of the cohort received 7 of more A* – A grades, with 70% of students achieving five or more A* – C grades including English and maths.

Good luck to those students who are leaving KEVI to pursue apprenticeships and courses elsewhere, and we look forward to welcoming our new Sixth Form cohort in September.

A Level Celebrations

A20Students at KEVI are celebrating another fantastic year of A level success.

There were 659 exam entries from 215 students across 33 subjects, representing one of the largest Sixth Form cohorts across the region.

Almost 50% of all grades were at A* – B grades, and there are many wonderful success stories across the whole year group.

Congratulations and best wishes to all students for their future, from all the staff at KEVI.
